4/20/16 A Conversation Among Survivors at Suffolk County Community College

A CONVERSATION AMONG SURVIVORS: FOUR SURVIVORS SHARE THEIR INSIGHTS

On April 20 four survivors will speak about life before and after the Holocaust, how the Holocaust shaped their lives and their vision.  As the Holocaust becomes more distant, now 71 years since liberation, we will have fewer opportunities to hear the insights of those who lived through that time.

A special feature of this year’s program will be that not only will it be heard by hundreds of community college students and community members gathered in the Theatre on the Ammerman Campus of Suffolk County Community College, but it will also be viewed live over the internet by hundreds more gathered at the Commack, Half Hollow Hills, Brentwood, Center Moriches and Smithtown School Districts and at the Eastern and Grant Campuses of the College and at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County.

Our esteemed participants will be:
Annie Bleiberg, now of Woodbury, was born in Poland, was forced to live in the Lubaczow Ghetto, the Krakower Ghetto, the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp, and the Mohrisch Weisswasser work camp in Czechoslovakia.

Mordechai Miller, now of East Northport, was hidden with his family by a Polish family, and later had to hide in the woods, where they all survived.

Hannah Robinson, now of Sound Beach, was born in Germany, and at nine years old her parents sent her with her brother to England, on the Kindertransport.

Ruth Minsky Sender, now of East Setauket, was born in Poland, was forced to live in the Lodz Ghetto, the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp, the Mittelsteine and Grafenort work camps, and a displaced persons camp in Germany.
